Vistry and Plymouth Community Homes partner to deliver 45 more affordable homes in Exeter
Vistry, the UK’s leading specialist mixed-tenure housebuilder, has agreed a deal with Plymouth Community Homes (PCH) to deliver a further 45 affordable homes at its Matford Brook development near Alphington, Exeter.
The latest agreement will take the total number of PCH affordable homes at Matford Brook to 93. Of the 45 additional homes, 34 will be available for social rent and 11 for shared ownership through PCH’s sales brand, SO Living. The scheme will include a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom properties.
The homes form part of the wider South West Exeter urban extension, which is set to deliver around 2,500 new homes alongside schools, green spaces and community infrastructure. Construction is under way, with the new homes expected to be available from summer 2027.
Peter Tannian, Managing Director of Vistry Devon and Cornwall, said: “We are proud to continue our partnership with Plymouth Community Homes and deliver a further 45 affordable homes at Matford Brook. This agreement underlines the important role partnership working plays in meeting local housing need and creating a balanced, sustainable community.
“We look forward to seeing these high-quality homes completed and welcoming new residents from summer 2027.”
Chris Brook, Executive Director of Place at Plymouth Community Homes, said: “We are delighted to secure an additional 45 affordable homes from Vistry Group at the Matford Brook development and to continue building our presence in Exeter.
“Developments like this are a key part of our commitment to provide more affordable homes in places where housing need is greatest. Through our new Business Plan we have set out ambitious plans to grow across the South West while continuing to invest in both new and existing homes.
“These homes will help more local people access high-quality affordable homes and support the creation of sustainable communities where people can thrive. We’re especially pleased that many of the homes will be larger family properties including three and four-bed family homes, helping more families to find a permanent home.”
Councillor Richard Buscombe, Executive Member for Housing and Homelessness at Teignbridge District Council said: "Everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. We welcome Plymouth Community Homes' plans to provide more affordable homes at Matford Brook, including many for social rent. These homes will give more local people and families the chance to stay in the area, build their future here and be part of a growing community."
