Vistry and Stonewater strengthen partnership with major Cheltenham development
Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, is delivering 250 new homes in Cheltenham, 158 of which are in partnership with housing provider Stonewater. Located off Harp Hill in Battledown, this significant new development will bring high-quality housing to the heart of the town, with a strong focus on affordability, sustainability, and community benefit.
The new homes will be offered in a range of tenures, including social rented, affordable rented, and shared ownership, as well as open-market sale – in line with Vistry’s mixed-tenure delivery model.
The product mix has been carefully designed to meet a broad spectrum of housing needs. Stonewater’s offering will include 1-bedroom apartments, 1-bedroom bungalows, and 2–5-bedroom houses. Vistry will deliver a complementary mix of 2–5-bedroom homes for open market sale.
As part of its commitment to the local community, Vistry will contribute over £5 million as part of the planning process. These funds will support improvements to local infrastructure and services, ensuring long-term benefits for residents.
The development has been designed with sustainability and placemaking at its core. It will feature significant areas of public open space, play areas, and new pedestrian access. Mature trees, including a prominent oak tree, have been retained and incorporated into the layout, enhancing the natural character of the site. Sustainable drainage systems will also be integrated to manage surface water and support biodiversity.
Highway improvements include upgrades to Harp Hill and the Harp Hill junction.
