Vistry exchanges contracts to bring 72 affordable homes to Winson Green

Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, has exchanged contracts on a brownfield site on Great Western Close in Winson Green, Birmingham, paving the way for the delivery of 72 much-needed affordable homes.

The approximately seven-acre site, which was formerly used for railway and industrial purposes, sits within Birmingham’s inner urban core and benefits from excellent connectivity to the city centre, with a nearby Metro station providing direct links for future residents.

Subject to planning, Vistry will regenerate the underused site into a high-quality affordable housing development, supporting local housing need and bringing a challenging brownfield parcel back into productive use.

Dave Bradley, Managing Director for Vistry North Midlands said: “This significant regeneration scheme will transform a challenging brownfield site into 72 high-quality, affordable homes. We share the Government’s ambition to deliver homes at pace and scale, and by working closely with Birmingham City Council we can help create a vibrant, sustainable community that meets local housing needs.”

Joe Williams, Director at Avison Young, said: “Alongside our joint agents, Ashlawn Chase, we’re proud to have supported Rochda Group Ltd on this disposal. We managed to secure in excess of 10 offers from very credible parties that clearly recognised the potential of the site. We are delighted to have secured Vistry/Countryside as a development partner on this opportunity, and look forward to seeing them bring forward a quality scheme with much needed affordable housing.”

Vistry expects to submit a detailed planning application later this year.
