Vistry hosts mini construction day to inspire future talent at Clapham Park
Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, recently welcomed local young people to the Clapham Park regeneration in Lambeth for a Mini Construction Day designed to showcase careers in construction and provide hands-on experience of the industry.
Held on 12th August, the event brought together young residents, Vistry colleagues and supply chain partners for a day of interactive workshops, careers information and practical demonstrations. The initiative formed part of Vistry's ongoing commitment to supporting employment, skills and social value within the local community at the Clapham Park regeneration, where Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH) and Countryside Partnerships (part of Vistry) are working in partnership to deliver over 2,500 new homes, more than doubling the size of the estate to 4,200.
Attendees learned about the wide range of career opportunities available across the construction sector, including apprenticeships, trainee roles and professional pathways. The programme included an introduction to Vistry's Rise trainee programme, alongside health and safety briefings and practical trade workshops covering carpentry, plumbing and electrical installation.
The event was supported by Vistry's supply chain partners, including TCC, RG Taylor and JD Geering, who delivered hands-on workshop sessions designed to showcase the skills and expertise required across different construction trades.
Vistry also welcomed Lambeth Council’s Skills and Employment Worksmart Programme Coordinator, whose attendance highlighted the strong partnership between the housebuilder and the local authority in creating opportunities for residents and supporting future talent.
The Mini Construction Day builds on Vistry's wider employment and skills activity across Lambeth, including the annual Women in Construction event which took place this June. Working alongside local stakeholders, schools and community partners, Vistry aims to inspire the next generation and improve access to training and employment opportunities.

The event formed part of Vistry and MTVH's ongoing investment in community engagement at Clapham Park, supporting local people into education, training and employment while creating opportunities for residents to benefit directly from regeneration and development activity in the area.
