Vistry launches new employment portal to connect Waltham Forest residents with local jobs and training, in partnership with GoodPeople

Vistry, the UK’s leading mixed-tenure developer, has launched a pioneering new employment and skills platform designed to increase access to jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities for local residents across its developments in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. Developed by employment and skills specialist GoodPeople and endorsed by Waltham Forest Council, the platform, goodwork.london, will serve as a central hub for employment and training opportunities generated through Vistry's projects across the borough. The initiative will strengthen local recruitment by ensuring opportunities are visible to Waltham Forest residents and by improving collaboration between Vistry, its supply chain and local partners.

Through a single, user-friendly portal, local residents will be able to access opportunities with Vistry and its supply chain, while subcontractors will use the platform to advertise vacancies and record employment outcomes. The platform will include opportunities available across all three of Vistry's developments in Waltham Forest. Together, the three schemes are creating circa 1500 new homes, alongside employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities for local residents.

The portal was formally launched to Vistry’s supply chain at an event this July attended by around 30 supply chain organisations, alongside representatives from GoodPeople and Waltham Forest Council. The session introduced the platform's user-friendly functionality and highlighted how supply chain partners will work together to maximise local employment and training opportunities.

Kevin Delve, Managing Director at Vistry East London, said: “This new platform represents an important step in ensuring local people benefit directly from investment in their area. By creating a single access point for employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities across our Waltham Forest developments, we're making it easier for residents to connect with opportunities and build skills for the future.

"Working with GoodPeople, Waltham Forest Council and our supply chain partners, we're introducing a more transparent and collaborative approach to delivering employment and training outcomes. We hope this initiative will help more local people access rewarding careers while supporting the long-term growth and prosperity of the borough."

Joss Hunt, Co-Founder and COO at GoodPeople, added: “Construction needs tens of thousands of new people every year, yet too many local residents, especially young people, still can't find a way in. GoodPeople’s platform is built to close that gap: it gives every subcontractor on Vistry's Waltham Forest sites a simple way to hire locally, so opportunities actually become jobs. We're proud to be delivering with Vistry and Waltham Forest Council, who have got behind an approach built around real outcomes for residents.”

Cllr Eva Tabbasam, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regeneration, said: “This new employment portal will help connect Waltham Forest residents to local construction jobs, apprenticeships and training opportunities created through development in our borough.”

Cllr Chanté Johnson, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, said: “We want local people to benefit from local investment, and the employment platform provides a simple and accessible way for residents to find work opportunities and build skills for the future. We welcome Vistry and GoodPeople's commitment to creating opportunities for our communities.”
