Vistry teams up with housing provider on Hinckley project

Housebuilder Vistry is set to team up with social provider emh to build out more than a hundred homes on a 54-acre housing development in Leicestershire.

Construction got under way in March for the wider scheme at the Millers Place site, situated to the east of Stoke Road and north of Normandy Way in Hinckley, which has planning permission for 475 new homes. Emh, formerly East Midlands Homes, will take 125 houses for the affordable market, with a significant proportion available through affordable rent and shared ownership.

The remaining homes will be split between the private rental sector and open market sale, with around 20% PRS and 50% marketed through Vistry’s Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Countryside Homes brands.

All homes at Millers Place will be constructed using modern methods of construction, including timber frame panels. The use of locally manufactured timber frame panels from the Vistry Works factory in Bardon will support regional supply chains as the development progresses, the firm says.

Andy Reynolds, Managing Director of Vistry South East Midlands, said:
“Partnering with emh at Millers Place is a major step forward for Hinckley, helping to accelerate delivery of affordable homes alongside a balanced mix of tenures. I look forward to working with emh on this important project and many more over the coming years.”

Chris Jones, Deputy CEO at emh said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Vistry to bring these new affordable homes to Hinckley. This partnership will help us achieve our aim of creating sustainable, high-quality homes which meet the needs of local people. I look forward to seeing the scheme progress over the coming months and welcoming residents to their new homes.”
