Vistry’s plans for 469 homes in Huddersfield approved
Vistry, the UK’s leading provider of mixed-tenure homes, has secured planning consent for 469 homes in Huddersfield.
Vistry has forward sold 154 of the homes to Vico Homes, in line with its partner-delivery model. Vico Homes is a large housing provider, with more than 32,000 homes across the North of England.
The remaining homes will be delivered as either private rent or open-market sale, utilising Vistry’s Bovis Homes retail housebuilding brand. Alongside Vistry, Miller Homes will deliver a further 231 homes.
The site, 3.5km south west of the town centre, is located on a former industrial area and some agricultural land. Under the new plans, it will feature green corridors, a central park and a variety of outdoor play areas, with 25% of it dedicated to being green space, achieving a 10% biodiversity net gain.
Andrew Poyner, Managing Director of Vistry West Yorkshire, said: “This significant site is a great example of what Vistry does best – regenerating a brownfield site whilst partnering with others to deliver a range of housing choice. We look forward to work now getting underway and to creating this vibrant new community in Huddersfield.”
Joel Owen, Director for Development and Growth at Vico Homes, said: “It’s fantastic to work with Vistry again to deliver more affordable homes. This development adds to the 347 homes that we’ve worked with Vistry to deliver over the past six months and we look forward to growing our partnership in the future. We have a bold vision to deliver 10,000 new homes and partnerships like this are at the heart of this journey. Working together means we can make a bigger difference and provide more homes for more people in more places. We’re looking forward to seeing these homes take shape.”
